Don't scare her off with gruffness, she's just starting out and really needs expert guidance.

I told her to try this forum after she had a bit of a hard time in the Broadcast forum, so please be hospitable.

She has a specific kind of ultra-short subject in mind, sixty-second interviews. I don't know if she means the final edit is a minute long, composed from much more footage, or if it is live, whatever can be done in a minute. We had a long go-round, the upshot of which was, she doesn't currently have the money to do it on the scale she really wants, with the kind of gear she wants. Or thinks she wants. I was hoping you guys here that do this on a regular basis could make some pointed suggestions.

She's apparently dead-set on a final print to film and on owning the camera as well. Points were made regarding relative resolution and what an audience would and would not accept out of a HD video to film transfer. I suggested renting as a more economical alternative, and spending more money on upgrading her editing systems.

Now I'm done putting words in her mouth for her, I leave it to Marsha to maybe fill in anything I missed or misspoke. I hope you gents can offer some more guidance, if she takes the advice or not is up to her, but I thought it important she get a large enough sampling of opinions to see the advice for what is is.
