you say the canon is not very simple to use for films, but if it is not very difficult either, then it would be worth having and learning how to use it properly. Also the picture quality is unrivalled in a camcorder of that price isn't it? You also say the audio is not great but if you use a gunshot mic and mixer won't that make it any better. Could you suggest a camcorder then that will give as good a look on a cinema screen as this camera will? I like the Sony HVX200 but you need to use a 35mm lens adaptor with it to get short depth of field.
