I agree with David, get involved. Serve soup at the downtown mission (not just on thanksgiving) and after a few times ask if you can bring your cameras. Set up out of sight and ask people to come sit for an interview. I'm sure some will.

Swap out serving soup - for any organization that helps the poor that you can get access to. Some of them might even have access to private funders who might help your cause.
