Re: Funding Question
by donatello on Jul 22, 2006 at 6:00:37 pm

it all comes down to the FINE print - a funder may or may not write in deadlines or other restrictions - ........

if you really want NO dictating from 3rd party then fund it yourself ..

i used to donate ( give away FREE ) to projects ( no strings attached)
but when reviewing 1998-2003 projects and seeing that none had been finished or they changed the project ( it wasn't the project they pitched me), or one person had TOTAL control that could do anything to project including stopping it, selling it to another for any price ( $1)
.now i have a HUGE clasue that states if the project isn't finished by X date, then the investors/funders can take over the project and finish it.. also no funding/donations go to directors/producers that have total say on project ( if it's their vision then that vision better be very clear in TEXT)

i understand the producer/director not wanting 3rd party dictation etc -
well you have to look at it from FUNDERs POV ... funders want to go with winners - winners are projects that get finished by a DATE
unfinished projects is WASTED $$$ to funders ...
