Use magnets, not push pins, which will freak out an already-nervous image owner, even if you explain you're not pushing the pins into anything. Agree scanner on location with laptop the best way, othewise a 6 megapixel digital stills cam shooting RAW or TIFF would be my next choice. Copystand and video camera would be least flexible choice, but fast.
