HDCAM problem?

Hi All
im working on a project using HDCAM but i seem to be only able to capture at 10bit uncompressed 720-576 i need to capture at HDprores but i can figure out how to get footage from the HDCAM deck HDW-S280 to my system?
I just got this deck, an hour ago ive never used it before, i downloaded the manual but im stuck?
this is the specs of my system
Kona Lhe
Fibre Channel HUGH 4tb external drive
FCP 6
OS X 10.4
2 x 3 dual core processor
8gb ram
Im sure its something simple and i have to get this deck back in the morning please help?
