Re: Kona 3 to 5.1 using Hi5

Sounds like a logical workflow, but...the fine print for this
on the AJA page is:

The Hi5 does not encode the HDMI output with HDCP encryption. By definition, SDI/HD-SDI inputs to the Hi5 are unencrypted. The HDMI specification requires HDMI monitors to support unencrypted inputs.
(Same applies to the improved Hi5 3G with HDMI v1.3a).

Your receiver may or may not require HDCP encryption to accept the HDMI signal.

For analogue surround from FCP and Soundtrack Pro, I use an M-Audio Profire 610,
or an MXO2 Mini with MAX from FCP for HDMI 8 channel output through my
Sony Receiver.

Not trying to confuse this issue, except that a member here
tried the HI5 with his HDMI video monitor and it did not work because
it required HDCP encryption. (I know you are using component video)

And yes I have a Kona 3 as well, with a dual quad core 3GHz Mac Pro.
I had considered an HI5 but went with the other options.
