I don't understand why you think you need the Kona 3. It would be the worst product choice since it is digital only, and you wouldn't be able to come in through component.

I think part of your problem comes from the fact that Canon HDV cameras do not truly record in 24p. It does something as it records 1080i60 to emulate 1080p24.
