HDCAM 29.97 30p Downconvert to 16X9 SD

I hope this isn't off topic?

As many of you know , some of the networks are shooting SD 16X9 and up rezzing to HD or broadcasting SD 16X9 for a "HD look". Rather than going out and buying a SD camera with 16X9 capabilities, I tried shooting with my F900 in 29.97 30P and down converting the footage to 16X9 SD Betacam via a straight dub out of my HDCAM deck. What I ended up sending them was a 4x3 frame with the 16X9 image. What they want is a full 16X9 SD image, like a SDX900 or Betacam WS would produce........ any ideas?

I haven't played around with this yet...... I thought I would throw it out there to you guys first, to point me in the right direction. Thanks for your help!
