The AJA codecs are MOSTLY used to 10bit RGB Log captures for dual link applications.

Then there's also the cross platform functionality you have alluded to (capture on Mac, edit/composite on PC, finish back on Mac).

If you are staying on the Mac, might as well use the Apple codecs that the defualt easy setups use.
