Problem with Kona 3 - new installation

I have installed my Kona 3 today into a new Powermac with FCP.
Ay first it all seemed to work OK - I played with it for a bit and then GCP was no longer inm control of it - only the default bars appeared on the 42 inch plasma monitor I had attached to the component out and FCP was not showing as in control in the Kona 3 control tab.

In trying to cure this I did a restart of the computer only to find that it would no longer restart - all I got was a message to say that I must restart. I tried many times without any change - then I took the Kona 3 card out and the computer started up OK first time.

So my questions are:-
Any idea how to force FCP to take control?
Any idea about the endless restart request - what could be causing it?
Any help much appreciated
