Firewire Bus down...FW PCI and Kona ok???

I think I'm having a FW bus problem which may require Applecare servicing!
Question for the pros here... Can I buy a FW PCI card to get me by a couple of weeks? Any issues with the Kona?

I really can't afford the downtime now (figures...all the work coming in at once... it couldn't die over the holidays right?).

Any advice? I'm looking at the Adaptec 4300 which I can easily pick up at CompUSA. I need to be up and running NOW!....and I know I will need some elements from my LaCie drives. At the very least I can move data to my SCSI drives.
