Pinnacle Studio 12 Capture problem

Relatively new to capturing DV video and working the Pinnacle software. Used it once with some direction and it worked fine. Tonight, when I go to capture the DV tape, the preview window freezes even though the counter below continues. The only thing that gets captured is the initial frozen image. Signal seems to flow fine from camera directly to TV. I'm starting to suspect that there might be a problem with the hub/box that everything passed through on the way to the computer. Please help...major project due Monday for work.
