Did you also miss that Avid bought Pinnacle? Maybe you should spend more time on the cow?
I have switched to Decklink and my system is working better than ever. Decklink cards are stable, high quality products with fantastic support and free software updates that are released immediately after Apple software updates so you don't have to spend six months waiting for your card manufacturer to catch up.
Decklink provides a whole range of interfaces ranging from 2K to SD so I'm sure you can find the right product to suit your needs. Their prices are very reasonable as well and since the software updates are free you never feel trapped or cheated.
The support is excellent and you probably won't need any.
You should definately make sure to have a big fat G5 with lots of RAM for your card though. Don't try to put a system together from some old leftover G4. It's just not worth the money you would save.
