Are you cutting with 48k audio. I can't see how you could here the built in sound as I think it is limited to 44.1K. Have you tried new sequences, or making a new copy of the project file as you might have a corrupt sequence or project file.

I am not sure Pipe 4.2 was meant for Tiger 4.2 so you might have to wait for a fix. Did you check with them before the upgrades. The tiger upgrade readme talks about improvements to core audio and core video. whenever you see these it means that you can be affected because the Pipe Drivers use these components.
