Try this,

go to aurora pane in system prefs. Restore factory defaults.

IN FCP try to hit shift F12 to display the current frame.

IN FCP system settings make sure that you have the Aurora set as the playback device. It sounds to me like you have a DV easy setup running.

Try this too.

EASY SETUP
show all, select one of the Aurora presets and hit easy setup.

This will auto configure FCP with the Aurora.

My guess is that you are set to firewire and DV right now.
