Joe,
Capturing Pro Res via your BM card is the only issue that you might have, all other funtionality works with even older less capable G5s.
What are you capturing from? If it's a flavor of video that can be captured via firewire, there is a technique for capturing to Pro Res on the fly that works with any Mac. See Chris Poisson's tutorial at
