Yep, that's what you're supposed to do. I ordered an 8GB Upgrade kit (2 4GB modules) and decided to just leave the original 2GB in there and see how it works out. So far it's working so I left it all in there. If I have any RAM issues in the future, I'll pull the original 2GB out.
