The log and capture preview isn't a reflection of what the video file really is. It's a low res version of it. If it looks good on a TV, then you're probably in good shape.

You can also open up the captured files in QuickTime and see what they look like. Just make sure that High Quality is turned on for the clip under visual settings. (Apple+J)
