Final Cut Studio 2 backwards compatibility...

Is it possible to open a file altered in Final Cut Studio 2 in 5.1.4? My employees are reluctant to (won't!) upgrade all the edit suites from 5.1.4, but it would be nice to get Color on the online computer. Of course, we don't want the problem of should anything ever get sent back to the edit unexpectantly that we can't work into that project...
Thank you!
