This was a bug that occurred in earlier versions of FCP 6, and had something to do with either corrupt media, missing media or media that was there but that you didn't have access to due to some permissions error. This should have been addressed with FCP 6.0.3.

But you said you opened it and it reverted to an OLDER version of the project? I don't understand. With that error people couldn't even open the project...not at all. Never heard of behaviour like this.
