hd export for bluray problems.
by Damion Demeter on May 12, 2008 at 11:55:47 pm

I am exporting a project to go to a DVD author to go to bluray, and am getting an odd blue-ish haze around blacks when there is motion. I am wondering if this is a codec problem. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I'm in a deadline bind.

Here's my stats/important info

Using fcp 5.whatever the newest update is :)
Because I am using fcp 5 and have not gone to 6 yet, I do not have the prores codec everyone suggest using for hd.

I mistakingly used the apple intermediate codec instead of editing in native hdv. :/ (footage was shot on a z1u)

The authoring guys told me they wanted a QuickTime file using the photojpeg codec. They did not specify a or b, so I used a.

I am viewing the image on a apple hd display, so unlike sd, I figure this should be a true version of the video. Am I maybe wrong and it will look ok ok bluray?

And lastly, I have tried exporting it the way I was told to outlined above, but have also tried a self contained movie using hdv 1080i 60, apple intermediate, and uncompressed 8 bit all with the same results. And no, the footage does not have this in the timeline viewer.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!
