[Josh Evans]
"I have imported a whole lot of Jpegs into my project.... but why is FCP making me render them when I put them into my timeline?"
How many?
[Josh Evans]
"They arent very big files, so shouldnt it be able to work with them in realtime?"
What's the average file size?
How much RAM do you?
Stills are RAM intensive. If you drop them one at a time onto your timeline as a test, what you would notice is the first several would not change the render indicator, but as you continue to add additional stills the indictor will turn green, and then later red. That because you're seeing th effects on RT performance of those pix eating up your available RAM.
