These forums are very helpful..thanks for the info! I've made progress, but there is one (big) issue I would appreciate any insight on:

After installing the AvidCodecsLE_1.8MAC.pkg file, I can play the Avid Meridien Uncompressed files in Quicktime just fine...yay! However, when I import them into Final Cut Pro 5.1.4 the videos do not play back after rendering--only the audio plays.

Do you have any advice regarding getting these Avid Meridien Uncompressed .mov files to import properly into FCP? Is there ANY manual work you needed to do after installing the Avid Meridien Uncompressed Codec?

I don't care if these files stay with this Codec, so if there is no way of importing them into FCP properly, is there a way for me to convert the files into something else--anything--that FCP can actually read?

A client has given me files with this codec, and I do not have Avid on any machine. Just need to find a way to edit them on FCP.

I'm using Mac OS 10.5.2 / 2.2 Ghz Intel core duo Macbookpro
