Apple may hate me after this, but...

Applecare really is worth its weight in gold. Here's why...
I didn't know it, but buying an Applecare policy on your MAC actually entitles owners to on-site repairs.
In my case, my 2.5 year old G5 suddenly began suffering intermittent crashes and it began to smell a bit like bad smores burning on a campfire. The folks at Applecare have diagnosed the problem as a bad processor, and the smell they believe is the grease between the heatsink and the bad processor. Meanwhile, they overnighted two replacement procs and a new main board to a local repair shop who are coming within 48 hours to replace them all.
Just thought you all should know that help is there when and if you need it...
