External Hard Drives plug play versus software

I wonder if anyone can tell me about experience they may have had with Rocstor drives. Are they good drives? Our concern is that we have a stable FCP suite. We currently use Maxtor drives plug and play. It was explained to us when we set the system up that there are external drives with preloaded existing software that can interupt or corrupt Final Cut software. We have also been advised plug and plays are the only types of drives we should be using. Does anyone know if the Rocstor800-AV 500 GB drives are pure plug and plays?
