Dropped frames in HDV Capture
by duendesoy on Jun 30, 2007 at 12:57:32 am

I have not been able to find a prior posting that dealt with this situation. So here is my question:

I am trying to capture HDV footage via firewire from a Sony HVR-1500 deck into Final Cut Pro 2. Project settings are HDV-1080i60.

Machine specs:
Mac Pro
3.0 Dual Quad Xeon
8GB RAM
Scratch disk (2nd internal SATA drive = 750GB)
Mac OS 10.4.10

I have no problems capturing the footage via the Capture Now feature (I am capturing the whole tape and not just clips). However FCP is dropping frames in capture resulting in multiple video files per tape (I get no error messages of dropped frames and the capture process is never interrupted). I made sure that I turned off the "Create new clip on start/stop" because I want just one file per capture. Any thoughts as to why this is happening? Any fixes? Should I try capturing in a different codec during capture to avoid this problem? Thanks! :)
