I would take tc out of our beta deck hooked to the tc in of 1200A, I'd set the timecode on the Beta for an assemble edit, change the tc of the 1200A to ext and then do a ETT with the deck control going to the Beta deck, HD SDI to 1200A and then when it came time I'd crash record on the 1200A that was getting it's tc from the Beta deck. Worked like a champ. Firewire wasn't really an option and this was easier believe it or not. The new 1400 deck solves all of that mess as has already been mentioned.
