Thank you all for the help.
I will have to perform a "crash record"
Thread closed."
Yes, you can perform an edit to tape with this machine, but it is not perfect. I delivered over 30 or 40 HD masters cutting to this deck and they all had perfect timecode.
You have to control the deck via Firewire.
You can ONLY perform an Assemble Edit and you only want to do this either in the Black or the Bars at the beginning of your show.
You will need to offset the deck by 11 to 20 frames depending on whether you are mastering out to 720 or 1080i and whether or not you're working with Drop Frame or NDF.
When I had this deck, I would perform an Assemble Edit at 00:59:00:00 and it worked perfectly everytime. It took me about three hours to perfect the offset on the timeline, but once I got it, it was consistent everytime and no show ever got rejected do to the timecode being off by even one frame.
I now own the 1400 which CAN use RS-422 during edit and is completely frame accurate.
