Internal Tools>Playback Meter

I've discovered that this tool no longer shows the video buffers, even if it still shows the audio buffers being filled and emptied on playback.
Does anyone know when it stopped working (and why)? I noticed this some time ago and now have just got around to asking others why.
I found it a useful tool to see how fast the disk system was keeping up with supplying FCP with data. Now it doesn't work, does anyone have alternatives?
Back when I had access to some Blackmagic Designs cards, their speed tools were also useful in a more general way to see what sort of speed you could likely get out of your disks.
