Guys

I may have started a fuss about this and your points are all well taken.

Unfortunately your perspective is a bit narrow to include some users situations.

In our case we are an educational institution and work off of Purchase Orders. We had actuall y ordered one of the "older' G5''s. But because PO processing take 4-6 weeks by the time Apple received oour order the new G5 was announced.

Apple called us and said "YOU MUST BUY ONE OF THE NEW G5'S BECAUSE THE "OLDER VERSION IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE FROM US"

So I did not have the choice you're talking about unless I pull my Purchase Order and wait another 6-8 weeks and find a vendor that the school will approve and then buy an 'old" G5 from them.

On top of that - because we use 6 G5's to train students its essential that all the software and configurations on those machines is very close to the same if not exactly the same.

Which means oh by the way I NEED TO BUY 6 COPIES OF THE VERSION 5.0.

so adding one computer just cost the school and $2400!

That blows - sorry about professionals who are in the business etc but not everyone is in the same position
