Thank you, Walter, for your speedy response.

Yes I am using a pre blacked tape, also tried another pre blacked tape. Still no go.

Tried logging in as another user and edit to tape worked fine. Back to my user and still no go.

I don't look forward to a complete clean install of tiger and everything else.
