Final Cut express Changing the resolution

Hey! So I have been using Final Cut Express for a while, and i just got a new camera (canon eos t3i) for my videos. But for some reason when i put my footage from the browser/viewer to the canvas/timeline the resolution drops a tun! Iv tried to look up ways to fix this but i can't seem to find anything. If anyone could help me with this i would be EXTRAORDINARILY THANKFUL!!!
