No shane, I mean in the "AV Devices" tab under Audio Video settings. "mirror on desktop" it plays the canvas back on your local computer monitor AND to your external monitor with it turned on. I'm having issues with an update to Lion I helped with and it was working correctly on Leopard.

I keep mine turned off on snow leopard. So on my local computer monitor, it stays a still frame but updates when I pause the video.
