Final Cut Pro 7 not recognizing video deck through FW800 (Macbook Pro)

Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone here can help me. I'm trying to capture HDV footage in FCP 7 from a Canon HV20 camera, hooked up to my Macbook Pro through a 4 pin to 9 pin Firewire cable. Every time I try, however, FCP says that it is unable to initialize the HDV deck. The camera itself detects that it is plugged in and the footage is able to be imported via iMovie. What's more the camera works with the same version of FCP on my old Macbook, using an old FW400 cable. Does anyone have any idea what could be going on here?
Thanks in advance,
Josh
