AVC-Intra100 to Animation workflow
by Felipe Lima on Nov 2, 2009 at 8:13:24 am

Hello all -- long time reader, first time poster.

Later this week, I need to take AVC-Intra100 clips from P2 Cards and turn them into Animation-encoded (don't ask me why...) .mov's before wrap.

Firstly, for the AVC-Intra100, it seems like installing FCP7 will be my best bet as it'll be able to handle the footage natively, without converting to ProRes, etc.

The raw data still needs to be QuickTime-wrapped in the Log-and-Transfer window first though, is that right? Does this need to be performed directly from the P2 Card or can I manually load a directory on my external RAID that I've copied all the card contents to?

Next, the matter of converting this footage. I'm guessing that if FCP7 can handle the AVC-Intra100 compressed files, that Compressor 3.5 will be able to as well. Is this correct?

I was thinking my best bet would be to create a Droplet that I can drag files onto as they come in, then manage progress in Batch Monitor -- Does this sound right?

Am I in for a world of pain w/ the AVC-Intra100 to Animation conversion times? Are there other problems awaiting me that I haven't even considered?

Thanks for any help,

Felipe
