Hi Greg

That would seem to be a drastic first step ... although ultimately it may be necessary, I'd nonetheless try some other less extreme things first. Trashing your preferences (or restoring a from a known good set of preferences) is always worth a shot when FCP starts acting strangely. Corrupt preferences have been known to present themselves in all manner of quirky and otherwise inexplicable behavior. There is a very good (and free) helper app from Digital Rebellion, called Preference Manager, that can make this a simple task. Another thing to try is to create yourself a new OS X user account on your Mac, then log in to that new account and try running FCP again ... does it still display the same behavior?

Best
Andy
