I would never recommend any backups to a device without server-grade drives (which the time capsule lacks anyway) although it's interesting to hear it's not a drive issue in many cases.

I would also never use a single drive device to backup anything I earn a living off - that's what mirrored or RAID 5 storage is for.

Apple's airport and associated devices always seemed to me to be overpriced, over-designed items. It seems the latter has been the (literal) death of it.
