FCP firewire in from HDX900
by Robin Probyn on Oct 14, 2009 at 12:50:47 pm

Hi there

Iam the cameraman but anyway trying to learn something.. not easy for a cameraman I know :)

There seems to be endless problems with Varicam and HDX900 with ingesting.. as one seems to know ever what the frame rate, whats the rasta..whats the system settings.. confusing I guess due to the camera having a camera system setting.. and a separate frame rate..

If I shoot say.. 720p / 59.94 at 30p.. via firewire to a mac laptop with FCP.. (new one 8 pin firewire,so need 400 to 800 cable?) FCP needs to be set to 720p/59.94.. the 30p isnt part of the equation?

Does firewire work with 1080i from the HDX900.. as this is an internal up res..?

Sorry if dumb questions.. but even amongst editors there seems to be this on going and universal screw ups with Varicam and HDX900 footage..cant someone get to the bottom of this once and for all.. write a book and make a fortune.. :)
