The autosave vault is usually set up to keep a maximum number of saves, so it will likely have deleted the older saves. Nice idea though - I'm guessing the OP has been working on this for a while...
As far as I know, it's the only possible way of checking this - perhaps if you use Time Machine to back up project files?
