Shooting at 23.98 but captures at 29.97...why?

Just curious as to why, when I capture my footage from my Canon HV40, the clips' settings are telling me it's 29.97 when I know it's 23.98. I shot the footage on HDV 24F mode. My capture settings are as follows:
Everything seems to play fine but is this something that will make my footage "look" different in the end?
