Yeah, I was afraid of that since you're coming through a camera, it's just a digital signal, no separation on the Mic.
Might look at your camera and see if you can boost the audio level there.
Also, does your Mic require phantom power? If so, that would account for the really low audio levels if the camera can't supply that. Our AKG 200 for example requires phantom power which the Mackie audio boards provide.
