Kensingotn Dual Monitor Adapter ?
by Michael Brown on Aug 29, 2009 at 12:44:47 pm

Hi Folks,

I was just introduced to a Kensington dual monitor adapter for about 120 bucks (that I havn't purchased yet!). It's a box that I'm supposed to connect to my 15" MacBook Pro 2.5 Dual Core (10.5.8) via USB and then to an additional monitor via VGA/DVI adapters, and supposedly I can run a 2nd external monitor this way. If I understand correctly, the adapter overwrites the Mac's integrated display settings and is said to provide for similar display options (desktop & extended. Here is a description page from Kensington: http://us.kensington.com/html/14499.html.

Does any one have any experience with this or advice? Will I be faced with a compatibility issue since I'll need to download the Mac Beta driver for the box? Will my DVI port still work additionally? My goal is to get 3 monitors this way: my MacBook Pro monitor, my current 19" Fujitsu Siemens, a 3rd monitor via the Kensington adapter, and even my calibrated Sony PVM 14" via firewire > player/camera.

Thanks for your feedback, Michael.
