apple quicktime mpeg-2 playback component is not installed

Hi guys,
Not sure if Im going nuts or what, but i seem to remember being able to rip bits of a DVD using mpeg sreamclip, and it would work fine.

now it comes with a message saying the mpeg2 component can be purchased at apple.com for £15. Didnt mpeg2 come with quicktime pro?

I am wondering if installing Studio3 came without the pro version of quicktime?
