I believe that the new version might have that feature. You'd need to do it in layers, I'd imagine. I haven't loaded my copy of Studio yet (waiting for Snow Leopard) but I'm pretty sure it;s in there. Otherwise Joe's filters has a keyframable soft pattern filter that could work.
