I did sort this problem out George, but it was quite a while ago and I can't remember exactly how.

What I would say is check all the settings on the FS and check the manual for the settings your camera should be on.

On the FS make sure the E symbol is on before you start recording, press the tape button if it isn't. Make sure in record mode it is set to normal in HDD mode make sure you're set to dvcpro/dv Rec and that tapeless is selected in the functions.

Also I know it sounds silly but if everything seems right check your connection between the FS and camera and the firewire going into the fs, unfortunately these connections are sub-standard and though the box itself is great the connections let it down.

I'm investing in some L shaped jacks, I've been told those are so much better.
