fluent pitch ascend/descend

I'm trying to take an audio piece and make it fluently descend in pitch, then ascend (like a record coming to a stop then back up to speed)... I know if you cut it in pieces you can slow mo, it but it sounds choppy... is their another way to do this, or another program to do it in?
please help
