Reconnecting P2 DVCPro 720P media
by Les Kaye on Mar 29, 2009 at 9:15:05 pm

2,33 GHz MBP 17"
2TB Hitachi Drive striped array
Firmtek PC eSata card

The worst nightmare - one of a striped pair may be DOA. Hooked up a backup firewire drive containing the original P2 files in folders which correspond to FCP bin names. I tried to follow Shane's advice from a few weeks ago to highlight the clips in the bin & choose Batch Capture. However an error pops up stating (something to the effect) that the Volume is not mounted. So I guess HELP is the order of the day.

The backup firewire does contain about a day's worth of previously transcoded P2 media in .mov format. I can relink these files using reconnect media, although it seems I need to do it in both the browser and timeline separately. While the saintly DRW will be helping to troubleshoot the drive issue tomorrow, I need to prepare for the next scenario(s).

Sincere thanks for any help.
