I don't usually do the layback, so I don't know the technical stuff about this. I have "my guy" do this, and he has done this successfully for me a few times. There are issues with TC slippage occasionally, but he has a method to figure this out before he lays off the entire 90 min. He might have one false start, but then he gets it right on the next time.

HDCAM decks are complex machines.
