Thanks for the note, and apologies for the problems. Some folks with FCP 5.1.4 just have problems, and we're not entirely sure why.
Here's how to fix things though:
Go to: HD > Library > Plugins > FxPlug
Then just delete the demo/dvG folder and you should be fine.
Alternatively, you might want to try out dvMatte Blast. We know that 99% of the time it doesn't create a problem in FCP 5.1.4.
